Series: Hotels that Live in My Heart: Borgo San Felice

If I were to close my eyes and picture the quintessential Tuscan property, I would not have had the imagination to envision Borgo San Felice!

From the discreet signage to the abundant pots of red geraniums, the sense of arrival is warm and approachable. The true magic is what lays beyond. – a borgo (hamlet) that seems both frozen in time and completely (and authentically) updated.

Just 30 minutes from Siena, and 90 minutes from Florence, Borgo San Felice is the perfect hub from which to explore the rolling hills of Tuscany’s Chianti region. You could be forgiven for never wanting to leave the borgo – everything you could want for is right on property!  There are two restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Poggio Rosso; wine tasting experiences; cooking classes and a world-class spa.

The property’s 29 rooms and 31 suites can be found in a number of stone buildings throughout the property.  It is easy to imagine life in this medieval village – only now with all the comforts of an elegant Tuscan home!

For those who would truly like to replicate a Tuscan home experience, there are two independent villas on property. A two- bedroom villa with private pool would be perfect for honeymooners or a small family, while the 6-bedroom option would allow an extended family or group of friends to enjoy the common spaces they seek along with a private pool, while also availing themselves of all of the services of the property.

There is so much to love about Borgo San Felice…….for me, it is the stately cypress trees that dot the landscape; it is the variety of quiet outdoor spaces that allow you to simply enjoy la dolce far niente; it is a sense of a community when you pass your neighbors in the small piazza in front of the chapel, and it is the sense of purpose attached to the small farm on property. It is not only where the celebrity donkey lives with his fellow farm animals, it is also a place of true commitment to others. The “Orto e l’Aia nel Borgo” was created as a social agriculture project intended to improve the quality of life for disabled children by helping them socially integrate and offering them the opportunity to work.”  It is a very special place indeed!
